The VIP programme is the main reason people keep a balance on Stake rather than moving between sites. Each tier is unlocked by cumulative amount wagered — not deposited, not won — and once reached it is permanent.

The number that matters most is the first one. Bronze at $10,000 wagered is where rakeback normally switches on. Registering through an affiliate link activates rakeback immediately instead, which is the single most valuable thing about doing so.

A wager placed on the sportsbook counts three times toward VIP progress compared with the same amount staked in the casino. If you intend to climb the ladder at all, this is the most consequential fact on this page — it cuts the effective wagering needed for a tier to a third.

⚠️ What climbing actually costs

Wagering is cumulative turnover, not losses — but at a 1% house edge, $10,000 of turnover costs about $100 in expected loss. Reaching Bronze is therefore roughly a $100 expected cost, and Gold at $100,000 turnover roughly $1,000.

Never chase a tier. The rewards at every level are worth less than the expected loss required to reach it — that is arithmetic, and it is the entire business model. Rakeback softens the edge; it does not reverse it. Treat VIP status as a side effect of play you were going to do anyway, never as a target.
